How to Migrate Contacts from Personal GMail to G Suite
- In a browser where you're logged into your personal Google account, browse to https://contacts.google.com/
- On the left-hand side, scroll down and click the Export button
- Make sure Google CSV is chosen as the export format
- Click the Export button
- Save the file somewhere you can find it later
- In a browser where you're logged into your G Suite Google account, browse to https://contacts.google.com/
- On the left-hand side, click the Import button
- Click the Select file button and navigate to the file you downloaded from your personal GMail account
- Click the Import button
All the contacts imported will be added, along with any labels you might have had for groups of contacts. A new label will also be created for all the imported contacts, called something like "Imported on ", so that you can review the results and make any edits or deletes you might want to make.
This is all necessary because Google's Data Migration Service does not import contacts from personal GMail. (It does support migration of contacts from Microsoft Exchange and Office 365. Why they don't support migrating contacts from their own personal email service is beyond me.)
